Which is better... self-compassion or self-esteem?

Do you struggle with low self-esteem? Or, on the flip side, do you know someone who has high self-esteem, to the point that it could be considered “narcissistic?”

In a recent article entitled “Why Self-Compassion Works Better Than Self-Esteem,” Kristen Neff, a psychology professor at the University of Texas, explains the differences between the two and shares her thoughts on why self-compassion is the better choice.

Self-compassion entails a recognition of common humanity, personal responsibility, and mindfulness which causes your self-worth to be much more stable than when you judge yourself positively. To learn more, read the full article.
